J.P. I too have wondered why seemingly intelligent, accomplished, and many times affluent individuals trend liberal. Do they not realize the stark contrast between their work ethic and the culture fostered under a free rider system? I don't think it has even crossed their minds. Liberals are hardwired not born, nurture not nature. When I was in college I read an article which covered the psychological tendencies of self described liberals, while I agree with you that college kids are merely naive, entering college believing their heart and leaving relying on their mind (hopefully) the psychological precursors seem to indicate some maybe beyond reach, forever irrational if you will.

if you get a chance read how to the tobacco legislation that granted absurd powers to the FDA was supported by anti-tobacco groups along with Philip Morris. While RJ Reyoylds and the smaller dogs fought it, Morris supported this 'socially responsible' legislation further entrenching there majority market share. It is such a perfect case study on how regulations over empower the market leaders through stifling competition.

I would like you to go after republicans whose policies you disagree with. For example, although they didn't vote for it, they all requested and spent stimulus dollars. In Arizona, we are getting a 2% tax on food. How about all those Republicans who voted for the bailout?

I will spare you the fiscal history of the Bush admin, as I'm sure you are well aware. I know that is in the past and you are fighting today's battles, but this kind of hypocrisy still exists today on the right (and left). So where is the equal opportunity outrage?

I go after Obama a lot, not for the reasons you do, but because he isn't liberal enough. I like to think my criticism of the POTUS give me some additional credibility when talking about policy.

You have actually been pretty good about suggesting solutions rather than just attacking the ideas of others. I would like to see this continue. I would much rather read an article on how libertarians would solve our country's problems than an attack piece on the left. Unfortunately, the later is all too common, so it is nice to actually see someone put forth ideas. Keep that up, and I will keep coming back, even though we agree on very little.

I concur, cmmjaime. Home schooling is a very viable form of education and should be allowed in all states. I focused more on vouchers because they are a means of dramatically changing our public education system without dramatically changing the way of life for most parents. However, I fully support home schooling as well.

I won't blast your harsh treatment of teachers. I think you are right on. My only complaint is that you left homeschooling off the list of viable alternatives. States should encourage that option and then get out of the way of interested/motivated parents as WE teach our children. (Some states do that, but many don't.)
